  • Retrograded "Conform now assigns the Track Name to the Corresponding Channel Name" was removed. It had the unwanted side effect of unhiding hidden tracks.  If a track and channels get different colors/icons as a result of names being out of sync, manually run the "Assign Track Name to Channel."

Version 3.0.2 (10/19/2022)

Version 2.9.3 (7/27/2022)

  • Improvements made:

  • The color palette now provides 72 colors (48 standard and 24 custom) which provide 4 shades of the industry-standard 12-point (primary, secondary, and tertiary) Color Wheel and 12 more custom colors than previous releases.

  • Removed [Event], [Tint], [Shade] and [Gradient] buttons from the Color Toolbar Editor panel because access to selecting channels for manual coloring is restricted now that it's a modal window.  [Conform] still works with the editor open but coloring Arranger Sections and Color Toolbar hotkeys no longer work now that the editor is a modal window. Please note that [Conform] and manual coloring works as expected from both the Color Toolbar docked and detached "Mini" panels.

  • Added more keywords to ctsetup.txt to recognize more instruments as suggested by our users.

  • Improvements made to reduce false positives related to soft matching.

Version 2.9.1 (7/5/2022)

  • New Feature Updated:

The previous Color Toolbar (Detached) used for configuring Names/Keywords, Arranger sections, colors, etc. is now called the "Color Toolbar Editor" and is available via the [Edit] button located on the "Docked" and "Detached" toolbars.

  • Improvement made:

  • A poll of our users resulted in the majority preferring that we reduce the size of the "Mini" Color Toolbar (Detached) panel by removing the numbers associated with each color slot.

Version 2.9.0 (7/1/2022)

  • New Feature added:

  • "Mini" Color Toolbar (Detached) - The "Mini" Color Toolbar was added to provide a more compact, simplified toolbar that can be conveniently left open on any screen while you work. The previous Color Toolbar (Detached) used for configuring Names/Keywords, Arranger sections, colors, etc. is now called the "Color Toolbar Editor" and is available via the [Edit] button located on the "Docked" and "Detached" toolbars.

  • Fixed:

  • Script Error when conforming song with no tracks.

  • Improvements made:

  • The Color Toolbar (Detached ) was changed to the Color Toolbar Editor. Most users find that the factory default Colors/Names/Keywords work out of the box so custom editing no longer needs to be readily visible for day-to-day operation.

  • Moved menu from "Docked" and "Detached" panels to simplify panels.

  • Removed cursor logic from "Docked" and "Detached" to simplify panels.

  • Increased the size of the color slots.

Version 2.8.7 (6/19/2022)

  • New feature added:

  • Soft Match - Matches a partial word in the channel to a partial word in the keywords list. This is a last-step approach to allow for a soft match when previous exact matching criteria were not met. Since this is not an exact match it can result in a rare false match.

  • Fixed:

  • Phrase-based slot names were not matching.

  • Numeric first-word phrases not conforming correctly.

  • The cursor for Slot 1 doesn't clear when selecting another slot after "Reset to Default Setup".

  • Improvements made:

  • Improved hierarchy of matching criteria.

  • Updated factory default (ctsetup.txt) setup file with additional Name/Keywords.

Version 2.8.5 (6/1/2022)

  • New feature added:

  • Skip - Conform now skips coloring Track and Channel names that start with a "!". This is useful if you start with pre-colored templates or have custom-colored sections using the Tint/Shade/Gradient tools and want to preserve their colors independent of a Conform.

  • 2 Character Filter Prefix - In addition to single character (a-z) filter prefixes followed by a "." or colon ":". Conform now supports 2 character (a-z) filter prefixes as well. This is useful if you want to separately color sections of a choir or orchestra and retain the ability to use free-form descriptive track names that are not matched exactly to a track name.

  • Fixed:

  • Not coloring prefixes for tracks with no channels ie: Automation Tracks.

  • Improvements made:

  • The previous Slot Editor pop-up dialog box is now embedded within the Color Toolbar "Detached" panel. This major workflow design change provides easier access to everything you need to customize colors and move names. By merely selecting a current slot you now have full control over color adjustments and name/keyword moving in a more natural workflow.

Version 2.8.1 (5/13/2022)

  • New feature added:

  • A [Gradient] button to manually color multiple selected tracks. Provides an easy way to color channels/tracks with gradual blending of two colors for multiple selected channels or tracks.  This is useful for example, with an orchestra section, group of singers, guitars, etc. The docked and detached views now include [Gradient] and [G] buttons to accommodate the new feature.

  • Fixed:

  • Tint and Shade coloring did not work for multi-output instrument channels (without tracks).

  • Improvements made:

  • Replaced the "?" link that accessed the Color Toolbar homepage with a [Help} button that now connects to the online Help page to provide users quick access to Color Toolbar v2 video tutorials and documentation.

  • The Slot Editor now adheres to the standard Studio One dialog design.

  • Updated the detached Color Toolbar with better grouping of Conform parameters vs manual color edits.

Version 2.7.5 (3/30/2022)

  • Added a New Conform Logic Feature:

  • Ignore First Word (Numeric) - Conform will ignore the first word of a phrase assigned to a channel/track if it's a number. This works well for loading audio tracks or stems where the filename includes the channel number as the first word in a name.
Examples: "01 Kick", "02 Snare", "03 HH", etc.

Version 2.7.3 (11/22/2021)

  • Fixed:

  • Fixed Slot Editor bug that allowed data entry of slot numbers less than one.

  • Fixed Arranger Section names and phrases that use suffix numbers.

  • New Improvements:

  • Added color box to the detached Color Toolbar header area to visually correlate the slot color and matching data.

  • Added a Hex field to the Slot Editor to allow for direct input of Hex colorsThis provides a convenient way to update the custom colors in slots 49-60 using your keyboard to Copy/Paste Hex values from your favorite color pickers or websites.

  • Changed Arranger Section match from soft matching logic to exact match of names and keyword phrases.

Version 2.7.2 (10/27/2021)

  • Fixed:

  • Fixed an issue that prevented [Conform] from working after adding tracks to a song that already includes one or more existing special channel types with their options checked.

  • Fixed blank track names not being conformed with "No Match" color.

  • Fixed blank Arranger Section names not being conformed with "No Match" color.

  • New Improvements:

  • All 60 Colors (Numbers Added in "Docked" Mode): "Docked" mode has been updated to include all 60 colors with numbers that match what's assigned in "Detached" mode. The 12 custom colors are located centrally around the [C], [E], [T] and [S] buttons.

  • Add/Edit/View Name/Keywords : Removed the need to click on [+] to display Name/Keywords. Clicking the slot name (or number) is all that's needed to add, edit or display the Name/Keywords. This change provides a quick way to check each of your Name/Keywords and also reduced the size (width) of the "Detached" panel.

  • Slot Editor (Moving Name/Keywords): The Slot Editor now has a simplified cut and paste logic that requires less keystrokes and makes it easier to move Name/Keywords to another color slot.

  • Color Toolbar Icon: A new icon was created to replace the previous colored icon so it now adheres to the no color, no shading design elements of the other icons included in Studio One.

Version 2.7.0 (10/1/2021)

  • New featured added:

  • The last 12 User-definable color slots available now (all 60 colors in docked mode) for complete manual track coloring.

  • A [Tint] button to manually color multiple selected tracks. This starts with the current selected color and auto-adjust to a lighter tint of the color. This is useful for example, with an orchestra section, group of singers, or guitars.

  • A [Shade] button to manually color multiple selected tracks. This starts with the current selected color and auto-adjust to a darker shade of the color. This is useful for example, with an orchestra section, group of singers, or guitars.

  • A [Conform] button to Color Slot Editor to test color changes on actual channels/tracks while in the editor form.

  • Improvements made:

  • Improved: Slot Editor form layout with Location, Color, and Move Name sections.

  • Improved: Color Toolbar cursor movement while in the Slot Editor form.

  • Removed: Color Copy option to encourage consistent use of the 48 Standard color slots.

  • New Features added:

    • Modified code to support updated Java compiler in Studio One 5.4.

    • Dedicated Channel Type options with their own custom color slots.

    • Twelve blank user-definable color slots are now available in the panel.

    • Hashtag slot assignments for Bus, FX, VCA, Aux, and Instr. are no longer required.

    • Added "Setup Tools" sub-menu:

      • Added "Edit Setup" menu item for text editing names and keywords to match your genre or workflow

      • Added “Reload Setup” menu item to update your changes made to the setup file.

    • Added Suffix Matching: You no longer need to add numbers (1-9) to each of your duplicate names and keywords.

    • Added command to “Apply Track Names to Channels” before each "Conform" action.

    • Added "Starting Color Toolbar..." message to display during Studio One startup log.

    • Unique backup files are now made when old setup files are converted.

  • Improvements made:

    • We have enhanced Default Names and Keywords that better fit standards for orchestration and added more use case scenarios.  For most users, no edits are required for full auto color matching.

    • A new Color Toolbar v2 icon was created to better conform with the no-colored icon standard used in Studio One.

    • The File Menu was cleaned up by moving Setup tool options to a submenu.

    • The improved “Clear All” only clears names and keywords and not colors to enforce a stronger adherence to the standard color set.

    • # I/O names have been removed. We prefer that you use the built-in Studio One color options for each of your hardware I/O setups. You can still override with the old #INPUTS #OUTPUTS, #LISTEN and #MASTER names if you prefer.

    • Stronger setup format checking of user-edited load files.

    • More old file migration cases were added to handle previous and future versions.

    • “Keyword First Name” matching was prioritized over “Name First Word” matching to improve keyword matching scenarios.

    • Conform no longer sets the cursor to the first track.

Version 2.5.0a (4/18/2021)

  • Renamed Channel Type Synth (#SYNTH) to Instr. (#INSTR) to make it more obvious that it's related to coloring instrument tracks/channels.

Version 2.5.0 (4/9/2021)

One-Click Auto Coloring of Channels and Tracks by Name.

  • Support for Studio One 4. Note, that new features included in Studio One 5 like Aux channels and Listen Bus are not supported.

  • Colors are based on the industry-standard color wheel. This adopts an industry standard for the first set of forty-eight colors.

  • Improved color linking for ALL channel types. This improved conforming tracks to all channel types.

  • Standard hashtag assignments for channel-type coloring.

  • Slot Editor improvements.  In addition to editing colors, the interface now allows moving or rearranging colors and/or name/keywords to other slots within the detached toolbar.

  • Improved Singular/Plurals: You no longer need to add plurals to all your names and keywords.

  • File Conversion Support. Previous Color Toolbar v2 setup files will be prompted to migrate to the new setup file.

Version 2.2.2a (3/13/2021)

  • Conform now also supports first-word track name phrases that match a color slot name or keyword.
Example: Track named "Strings (Spicatto)" will conform to the color slot assigned as "Strings".

  • Improved Color Editor (includes fix for Color Slot: 2-digit partial display issue).

  • Fixed keyboard shortcut not conforming the same as GUI conform

Version 2.2.1 (2/20/2021)

  • Fixed "Conform not working for Filter Prefixes assigned to multi-output instruments".

Version 2.2.0  (2/4/2021)

  • Standard Setup File: To make it easy to edit and share setup files, we have combined colors, names, keywords into a single file named "ctsetup.txt". To help get you started, a default "ctsetup.txt" file is loaded during the initial install. Colors now use standard RGB Hex values, that can easily be copied and pasted from a website color picker.

  • New Menu Choices: We've added new menu choices that provide an easy way to load a setup file, replace just the colors, or replace just the names. Two other menu choices were added for your convenience. "Clear All" clears all settings, colors, names and keywords so you can custom configure everything to your own requirements. "Reset to Default Setup" makes it easy to reset everything back to the factory default.

  • Exact Phrases and Two Character Words: We also made improvements for reducing false positives and the need for exceptions.
Exact phrases are used instead of partial matches for better conforming accuracy. This was achieved by using a comma for the delimiter instead of a space " " character. Exact phrases such as “Kick In, Kick Out, Snare Top, Snare Bottom, Double Bass" are acceptable. We no longer are excluding two-character words. For example, you can now use names or keywords like "HH, OH, or B3". Please note that setup files saved in previous versions will require a comma between your keywords for conform to work properly using this release.

  • Filter Prefixes: Many of you have asked for a “filter prefix” to support the new Studio One 5 Track and Channel Filters. The filter prefix accepts any single character (a-z), followed by either a period or colon as the filter. Characters following the prefix are not used in the match but can help you associate what the prefix is used for. A good example for this is d.Drums to represent the Drums group. Instruments that have multiple tracks, such as drums, typically require many keywords and phrases for conforming.
However, using a filter prefix like d.Drums will conform d.Kick In, d.Kick Out, d.Snare Top, d.Snare Bottom track names without having to add any keywords. Conforming colors for your ad hoc tracks without the need for custom keywords is a real time saver.

  • Saving Changes: Changes to all your data and settings are saved when you close the song. You can also manually save these via the Detached or Docked Color Toolbar menu. Please note that it is still a good practice to save often.

  • Custom Default Color: You now can use the color editor to create your own custom default color. Previous versions required selecting from one of the existing 50 color slots. Any tracks not defined by your names, prefixes or keywords will use this color when the "Use Default Color" option is checked.

Version 2.0.0 - 2.1.1b (1/21/2021)

  • Renamed "Color Toolbar v2" (Docked and Detached).
The number of colors has increased from 40 to 50.

  • It now allows coloring selected bus channels in the mixer, in those cases where there is no Arrange Track. Bus, FX, VCA, AUX channels. Those channels and the master bus channel can also all have default colors.

  • There is a new [C] button over the [E] button on the docked toolbar. [C] is to fire the new Conform Colors function. Both of those functions can be bound to keyboard shortcuts.

  • The detached toolbar has been redesigned to allow associating instrument names with the colors for color conforming.

  • It now colorizes the Arranger Section defined in the color toolbar.

  • Input/Output channels can now be colorized by assigning the names "#Inputs" or "#Outputs" as a color name.

Version 1 - 1.1.0.0.7a (4/15/2019)

  • "Track Colors" manual coloring toolbar released.

Known Conditional Issues

Known Conditional Issues

  • We received a feature request to provide a smaller simpler panel for manual and "One Click" coloring in detached mode. We agreed it would be a great feature to add but would also require some major work to add a third panel to the design. The logic for the Color Toolbar add-on is similar in design with the docked and detached non-modal modes of the Macro Toolbar. The detached mode was already used for configuring all the slot names/keywords, colors, options, buttons, etc. for the Conform and manual coloring process. This design change required the use of a modal window which restricts access to selecting channels, conforming arranger sections, displaying channel icons and using Color Toolbar hotkeys when the editor is opened. A modal window is a user interface that displays in front of and deactivates all other page content while opened. Returning to the main content after making changes in the editor requires closing the window.

  • Grouped tracks will color all grouped tracks the same color when you run a [Conform]. If this behavior is not acceptable, ungroup the track before the conform command.

  •  If you don't want Studio One to auto shade your events you need to disable the "Draw events translucent (grid shines through)" option.

  • Disable "Apply folder track color to content" option in Studio One if you want to conform different colors within a folder.

  • You need to manually enable the "Show Track Icons" because Studio One 6 does not include a command for this.
